Can I file a motion to the court with out hiring a lawyer?

My husband did not recieve jail credit days and when I wrote a letter to the judge, I was told that I had to file a motion with the court. NO Idea what that even means let a lone how to do it.
yes you can
I THINK you can, but you'd have less defense. You'd need knowledge of law, though..
wazwondring is right - you don't want to do it yourself because if you do it wrong you will screw yourselves. But technically you can.
Yes you will be whats called in Pro Per but don`t do it unless you educate yourself on court procedures for your state

Answers:
You should talk to your husband's lawyer. The lawyer should file the motion. If it is a matter of fees, contact the public defender's office.

If you file a motion that does not have all of the required information and it is denied, it could prevent a lawyer from filing the correct motion later.

No matter what, you should speak to a lawyer in your area.
I've withdrawn my original answer because I really don't support average people filing their own petitions, or attempting to pursue their own cases.

Filing paperwork is the least part of the process and as the comment following this one correctly points out, failing to follow procedures can have seriously negative consequences.

Follow his advice, it is better than that I originally offered.
If you don't know then it is better that you have an attorney.

It is easy to harm yourself dabbling in law when you don't know all the consequences of your actions. In Texas there is a website called 'the people's lawyer', and his related 'people's law school'. I would Google to look for similar information for your location. You can also find a great deal of legal information by Googling and looking up the legal terms. But please be aware that simply knowing the minimum can get you into more trouble than you seek.
