Does being inherently against the idea of outsourcing and Americans losing their jobs make me a socialist?

I had a long car-ride debate with my father over this today and didn't really settle anything. My father argues that a business doesn't have a responsibility to anyone but it's stockholders and it's principal concern should be to make money. I tried to argue that while a company should be free to establish international factories that its wrong for a company to lay off workers who do their job correctly and have dedicated many years of loyal work to a company, simply because stockholders could craft an extra buck somewhere else and set up shop in Asia. I don't think government should run business per read out I just don't think companies should screw over workers like that.
Not necessarily, but it does mean that you oppose laissez faire capitalism.

Most industrialized countries make out the duty of the government to protect local industry and do not permit employers to lay past its sell-by date or fire workers without cause. There is even a social balance sheet contained by which each company must show that they contribute more to society than they cost in pollution and use of infrastructure and they pay greater taxes if their contributions are not sufficient. Most industrial countries are also considered social democracies.
Well, if that makes you a socialist, then I am too. Often, competitive pressures make it a choice between outsourcing and closing the company down.

It IS a business conclusion, but managers would rather have the operation close by so they can keep a close eye on them.
Some companies are run by Aholes similar to that. Some are not. Outsourcing will come back to bite them in the end.

Socialism is not a unpromising thing as long as it does not turn into a dictatorship, which usually happens.
How would he feel about outsourcing government? Thats the subsequent step after privatization. And anyone who jumps on a word and says if its that it must be bad is irrational.
Socialism isn't adjectives a bad thing.... It just seldom or ever works.
I lived for a year surrounded by the Netherlands.... there when I got sick I went to a free doctor, get free prescriptions, and I was a US citizen. All of my classmates that year had free college as well...downside...taxes.
My theory is this. If Americans revolted and stopped buying poisoned imported goods from China whenever possible, simply watch how fast our economy would adaptation. Sure Wal-Mart is cheaper, but look at the quality of items you are buying and all the recalled front riddled things you are putting on and in your body. What companies are doing to their employees is very disconsolate, but it's "We the People" who are supporting these actions by buying the imports. Spend a little bit more and buy American whenever possible. I've started doing that.
It makes you an honest American who is getting tired of the track we are being treated like replaceable parts instead of people. I chew over if a company ships jobs to foreign countries they should loose all tax breaks and be charges for bringing foreign made stuff into the country. I do not think that makes you a socialist. If you have ever read any of my postings you will know that I am one of the most conservative writers on this forum.

I have an idea that outsourcing is shortsighted policy on the part of manufacturing companies. I have even so to see it pay benefits.

Companies that move overseas cost themselves a huge market share, their former employees. Henry Ford be one of the first to figure this one out. He began paying his workers five bucks a day, not because he be a nice guy but because he knew if the made a good wage they would buy Model T's, he was right.

But how frequent third world people can buy today's Model T? Plus, every company that outsources is forced to reduce prices. The price of Wrangler Jeans are cheaper than when I was a youth during the 80's. They moved their plant from Colgate OK to some third world nation. Not only did they piss off their loyal customers by moving overseas, they had to lower prices, please detail m how they gained money for their stockholders?

NO! Opposing outsourcing does not make you a socialist, it makes you a capitalist that desires to see stock prices amount to more than a quick rise and fall, it is called using your principal.
No it doesn't be paid you a Socialist. It actually makes you lean to a conservative stand point. Look at when all these doors get opened for companies to go overseas...most started during the Bush Sr administration, and the flood gate opened during the Clinton adminitration. More American Jobs went over seas during the Clinton supervision then any other President in U.S. History....Bush Jr has'nt done much to help problems any. Blame Unions, and corporate greed.
