Legal defense for animals?

Going to law school this Fall. I will be attending a university that has a very high ranking natural resources and environmental law program. I am still deciding what type of law to practice. I am seriously considering a focus on animal defense/protection. Animals in our society are so unprotected and vulnerable. Hearing stories about the dolphin massacres in Japan and the bruatlity against seal pups in Canada makes me want to do something for them- perhaps a way to protect them from a legal standpoint. Does anybody out there work in this field from a legal view how available is a career in this area? Many thanks.
Probably a lot of jobs because it will pay you zip. I'd say go to Canada the US constitution doesn't protect animals (and shouldn't) in the US.
Lewis and Clark has that Animal Law Clinic. Is that where you are going?

Answer:
It's not easy making a living doing animal law, but a few lawyers. I can't think of any names right now.

I work for the government but take animal cases pro bono or for reduced fees so the few rights animal have may be protected.
None that pay any money in the US...you might try Green Peace or the UN. Before you make such a decision Read: En Route To Global Occupation by Gary Kah, ISBN #0-910311-97-8.
