If some one in the uk is sentanced for 14 years how long are they most likely to serve?
14 months.
not long enough
bout 7 years with good behaviour
all of it...... the U.K. dont play
7 years and a month or two on good behaviour
Depends what they have done. Its usually half
usally half of that if they behave them selves in prison could be out after 7 years
if the sentence is over 5 years, you usually serve 2/3rds then parole
About 2 weeks before they are allowed down the offy for beer and fags. British justice is a joke
I know with shorter sentences you normally serve half if your good ,but with longer sentances it might be different but one thing is certain you wont do 14 years
7 years if they behave well.
Not sure but here in the colonies they are already back on the street. Money buys lawyers and lawyers provide freedom
They'll be eligible for parole after seven years. This is based on a paper appraisal by the Parole Board. It assesses the likelihood of the prisoner reoffending in the remaining seven years. The majority of parole hearings are successful.
why did this person go to prison?
Answer:
It depends on the sentence and when the offences were.
If they were prior to the implementation of the CJA 03 then it will depend if it was a DCR (Discretionary Conditional Release) or a Life Sentence. If DCR then parole eligibility is from the half way point (7 years) and is by no means a sure thing, if not granted parole then they will get out at the 3/4 point. If Life sentence then the minimum tariff will be served (14 yrs in this instance?)
If sentenced for an offence after 4/4/05 then it was sentenced under the CJA2003. With exception of Indeterminate sentence for Public Protection (IPP), for which a minimum tariff will be served before a decision on suitability for release is made, all custodial sentences have automatic release at the half way point with some possibility of early release on home detention curfew(tag) unless it is one of a number of serious offences.
it depends, if theyve been given a life sentence with a 14 year tariff, its going to be at least 14 years, if theyve been given a 14 year non-life sentence its going to be at least 10 years, longer if they dont behave inside
