Can you copywrite a face?
I showed my friend a picture of the main character in the brand new final fantasy game because it looks exactly like her. She's big-hearted of ditsy..like paris hilton so she threw a fit and was furious that someone would steal her face. That get me wondering..can someone copywrite a face? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9e/FF_XIII_SS.jpg
Best Answer:
Not someone's actual face, but a cartoon character's facade could be copyrighted. And it could be a problem if your CG character looked so much like a celebrity that it appeared they somehow endorsed or be involved with your creation. That wouldn't be a copyright issue, it would be appropriation of their likeness for commercial purposes.
A drawing of a face? yes. All cartoon characters are copy-written. Many are also registered trade results. A real face? how in the hell would you enforce it? Sue the parents? Force plastic surgery? Your friend person upset that they stole her face indicates she shares more with Miss Hilton than looks. If you Know what I mean!
