Solution to music piracy: Revert back to cassettes?
I see technology as the cause of music piracy, so why can't we just go posterior to using cassettes or some kind of protected CD's?
Best Answer:
Makes about as much sense as going final to horse and buggy to prevent auto theft. Zach is also correct.
Cassettes can just as efficiently be pirated as CDs. Ever heard of cassette recorders?
Piracy will other exist in one fashion or another. I'm not sure what is more lucrative of a business...the actual piracy, or the anti-piracy. Honestly, considering how much money both sides of the aisle make, I wouldn't be surprised if the RIAA and MPAA have their hands involved in the actual piracy just to see their anti-piracy programs.
the cause of music piracy is the lack of values and a moral code
the cuase of music piracy is the ability to distribute it confidently. When we just had cassettes individuals would still pirate them. Now we have the internet people distribute it even more. The audio quality on a cassette is unforgivable so no-one will buy them when they could eventually get hold of the studio session and play the top quality audio of that song.
