I beleive a relative has stolen a piece of jewelry from my home, if it was pawned can I recover it?

I live in the state of New York, if that makes a difference. The item is of extreme sentimental value and I would really close to to recover it. I do not mind turning this relative in to the police, as long as my item can be recovered. I know for a fact that the human being took it, as it is not in the same place where it be left before they visited.
Same thing happened to me. I told the relative, 'you hold 3 hours to return it or I call the police'. It was returned in one hour. you can telephone local pawn shops and look on ebay.

They'll sell it back to you.
In writ to recover the stolen ring, you'll need to file a police report.

The DA will probably extend the thief a deal for a lighter sentence if they tell where on earth the ring is - where it was pawned.

The ring can be confiscated from the instrument shop as evidence, and you may be able to have the court order that they tender it back to you.

First things first. File a police report.

flunky shops hold the loans for 60 days and some for 90. You need to make a police report and tell them you suspect the party who stole it pawned it. There is a nationwide system called LEADS on splash which most pawshops (all here in texas) report to. At the end of the day Leads on procession dowloads the pawnshops transactions and your local autorities have access to it. If New York does not participate in that, they still hold to pick up the pawn tickets manually and go to the pawn division of the local cops.
When it is found you will hold 2 choices, to retrieve the ring from the pawnshop and pay what was loaned minus the interest, or have the detective confiscate the property at no cost to you. If you choose the latter, the property stays as evidence until the satchel goes to trial then you get it final. Most people choose to pay to get their stuff put a bet on. It's faster, but either way you will have to press chargers against the pledger.
If you see it surrounded by a pawn shop, inform police. You will then get it support for free.
