Forget it. Regard this enquiry as a SCAM.
Complete list is not available and the people e-mailing you know this,
Forget it and get some sleep., You'r punchy to even consider this. What do you bet in order to send you some money it will COST you something. NO CHECKS PLEASE..
What is his Authority as a contact man? Who appointed him? How did he get YOUR E-Mail address. Why not mine ?
All good questions, Can he answer any of them?? . I bet he'll vaporize when you ask a few questions.
LUCK
This is probably a scam. Where did this person get your email address? A legitimate search for you or your relative, or attempt to get an inheritance to you will involve a paper trail (letters or other documents) that come to you at home, using your real full name, and from a verifiable source, such as an attorney, that you can investigate and contact via phone, mail, and online. Be especially wary if this contact asks for ANY information from you, such as your ID or SS numbers, bank account or credit card numbers, your age, phone, address, or anything. They are really bad news if they ask for any money. I get several things like this every week, usually offering money left in a 'hidden' account by a relative who was working overseas and died in an accident. The messages often come from Nigeria, but sometimes from other places, too.
Answer:
That's a very common scam. They usually involve having to pay 'fees' up front or they will send you a fake check or money order requiring you wire their 'fee' out of that. After the check is returned to your bank you get hit for paying back the money. If they really knew who you were they would not have e-mailed you but contacted you with official correspondence.
It would be a cruel joke if this is a scam. If the person is sincere I'm sorry for your loss.
1st. Hire an attorney. He will be able to find out for you if the death is fact or fiction. Then Email this person and have him contact your attorney with the details etc... It could save you from being scammed. If this person ask for your bank account info or any other private info. Flatly refuse. A check in the mail will work, (Mailed to your attorney not you) and if you do get a check. Don't spend a penny of it until the check clears & the money is a proven fact. Foreign bank checks may take a few weeks to clear.
If you have life Insurance your agent maybe able to help you with this. It wouldn't cost you any money.
