Sign up for the 8 hour gun safety course and get a certificate. Fill out a fingerprint card with your fingerprints. Fill out a concealed weapons permit application. Send two passport style photos of yourself, and submit that with the application fee.

If you have no outstanding felony convictions (sans exemptions) and no domestic violence injunctions pending out there, you can start carrying a mace, a knife, a gun, a bazooka, as long as its concealed and you have that plastic card in your wallet.
