Does Sotomayer have the judgement to be a judge?

In an earlier speech, She stated that a wise latina judge next to her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male. She next said that she used poor judgement in choosing her words. I have no idea what her politics are, but it seem to me that judging by both statements, she is not have sound judgement at adjectives. Also carefully analyze the first statement. She compares two things. The positive descriptions of the first are: 1) being latina 2) being a woman 3) one wise 4) having her experience. The things making the other less desirable are simply human being white and male. It could be safely said that a wise latina woman have better judgement than an "average" white male, but why all the race and sexual characteristics connections? Her assumption is that being latina and a woman make her more wise than white males. She also assumes near this statement that white males in particular are not wise. Lastly, she seem to think that "her" experience is somehow superior to others... Scary stuff...Imagine if she blurted out, "A wise latina woman with my experience will more regularly than not reach a better conclusion than a black male." She would likely be eliminate immediately from the nomination proccess and rightfully so. Or imagine a white man spewing this out: "A wise white man beside my experience will more often than not reach a better conclusion than a mexican woman." You get the picture? There are both black and white men and women on that court, on the other hand she seems to have issues with merely the white males... Hmmm

the only thing I have to vote is, all past prez...took a few months to look over and decide which would be the best choice..not w few days and let hope she will be OK..because once in it is almost impossible to get them out... good luck smile
If a white mannish candidate said that they would make a better conclusion than a Latino woman, he would get run out of DC on a guardrail. (a)husker41.....look at her decision regarding the New Haven, Connecticut firefighters who were passed over because they be white. Racism (reverse or otherwise) at it's best.
Yes, she does. I suggest that folks read her entire speech before attacking that one sentence. Here it is: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/15/us/politics/15judge.text.html?_r=3&pagewanted=all Further, she has be a judge for many years. You notice that not a soul has found any decisions of hers that smacked of favoritism or that were not up to standard in any way. Isn't it odd that those defiant her can't find anything from her WORK, that is, her decisions, to criticize? It is a fact that your decision, and mine, are influenced by our backgrounds. How could they not be? That doesn't make us unfair or prejudiced.
The truth is none of us knows for sure. We all hold biases. Some of us can leave them at the door and some cannot. The biased liberal media (headed by Dan Rather) has shown a pretty complete inability to do so. I'll point to Dan Rather's lie based on forged documents about GWB's military experience. He rushed an unproven story to press blinded by his intense dislike of Bush. A dispassionate reporter would have properly vetted the story. An ability Dan Rather lack. A judge can be a different animal. Our entire legal system is based on self dispassionate. People starting in law school and throughout their career are taught that it doesn't matter whether you are rich or poor, powerful or weak, white, black, Asian, Hispanic or doesn`t matter what. The law is the law. You followed it or didn't. The Constitution offers some protections and others it does not. It does not guarantee duration, liberty and happiness, but just the right to pursue them. With the eyes of the nation on her immediately, can she be dispassionate? I don't know. But if she isn't, she bring disgrace on herself, her gender and her people. She'll have a huge incentive to do right or move out a terrible legacy. I guess all this will be explored during the hearing. We'll see.
He picked her because she is female and mexican. Do you think that maybe, of late maybe he selected her to get the mexican and womanly votes? Nah, he wouldn't do that... would he? I'm sure obama had a team scower the country for the best "person".. And I'm sure he told them that race and masculinity does not matter.. roll eyes..
