Are there any laws against domestic violence?

If so what are they? And if you find it in a website please put that in the answer please. It's for a research project and I can't find anything on it. Please help.

Most countries have domestic violence law. Usually you can obtain a protection order against the oppressor. You don't utter which country you are from so I can't guide you as to sepcific laws.
