I was surprised to learn that inmates in the Los Angeles jail are given clean but used underwear.?

I think this is disgusting and is going too far in how the prisoners are treated. They should not have to wear underwear that another prisoner has worn. What is your opinion?
when you go into a hospital you sleep on sheets that are laundered but used.and trust me you do not want to know what people do on those sheets!

Clean, sanitized underwear are not a health risk - and new underwear are not a 'right'.

They are in prison. It's not a privilege.
Going to jail isn't the same as going to summer camp. The underwear thing is pretty common in all jails.
That's nasty. Cleaned or not. Undies are not that expensive. Let em go comando if they wish.
I am sure they are clean so whats the big deal. If they awanted their own they should have stayed out of prison! I think prisons are to good and to many people want to go back. Yeah sure teach them some skills to survive outside of prison for when they get out but dont make it so good they want to go back!
Better then New York State where Inmates have to provide their own clothing. because of delays in package arrivals and visitation it means many people when first arrested spend up to two weeks in the same clothes

I know I don't want my tax money going to buy brand new underwear for every prisoner in jail. Lets make sure they are totally comfortable while they sit in jail, I say give them cellphones and gourmet dinners as well. Come on now. Some of those people are in there for brutally murdering someone or molesting a child. Why the h*** does it matter if they have to wear washed perfectly fine used underwear.
They are not in jail because they went to church Paris,they are in jail because they're criminals,if you want to feel sorry for some one,look at our military men who exposed thei lives and come to a country that most of the time forgets what they did,

Oh yeah, must be terrible. Have no idea what its like wearing handmedowns like that. Man, the poor-poor low-lifes being subjected to such torture as handmedowns. Seriously though, this complaint has gone over the top. There are millions of kids across this country that are subjected to handmedowns (including underwear) and they did nothing wrong. They were just born into a poor family.
If you like clean underwear, do not do the crime!
My opinion is they should consider themselves lucky to get underwear !! If I was governor , the s.o.b`s would get 2 meals of gruel a day , and chop rocks 12 hrs a day , 6 days a week .

They`re not there for a holiday . They`re in jail or prison because they`re CRIMINALS ! Don`t like the way prisoners are treated ?? ..... then get a job and EARN your money !
It seems like it's going against human decency, but I guess that's part of the punishment?!?
