911 dispatcher?

Is there a minimum age to be a dispatcher? not city policies but are there state/goverment laws that say there is a minimum age to be a 911 dispatcher? thanks

Not aware of a law, but almost all cities require any employee to be 18 yrs old.

to my knowledge there is no LAW that states that you must be a certain age. however maturity is crucial in this position. i would think that even a small department would require you to be at least 18yrs before considering your application. i personally have never known a dispatcher who was younger than the mid 20's, and some were far older.

The minimum is 18 years of age. Many agencies, including mine, require an applicant to be 21. If your looking at applying for this position you should call ahead to see what the age requirement is.
