What are prisons and jails like in different countries?

My husband was in jail surrounded by MExico Sity he said that there was 10 people contained by cell that had two bunk beds. They are what the flaming liberals in the US christen cruel and unusual punishment.
Prisons in most countries are hell holes, as they should be. In many countries, especially in the middle east, the clan of the incarcerated has to provide food, bedding, clothing, etc. The state only locks the person up; otherwise they provide nil for the prisoner. Human rights are non-existent.
American prisons are like luxury spas when compared to most prisons around the world. The last thing you want to do is find thrown into jail in any developing nation, and those in Europe aren't too hot any.
