"... Under God..." in the Pledge of Allegiance?
Should the phrase "...Under God..." be cut out of the Constitution? why or why not? should the statement "under God" be cut out the the *Pledge of Allegiance* ... sry for the typo
Best Answer:
Yes. Conservatives are the ones who put this into the pledge in the first place, back in the 1950's. The pledge be just fine as originally written without activist conservatives trying to force their religion on everyone.
Leave it surrounded by.
yes leave it its history and if the for fathers of this contry put it in attendance it was ment to be if u dont like it your not amarican!
I could care less, although I give attention to that it hilarious that people would believe in a legendary character.
Leave it in! It is a FACT that the majority of Americans believe in God, and majority rules. I would even support "...Under Jesus Christ..."
Earth to Nicholas. The Pledge of Allegiance is not in the Constitution. The words "beneath God" were not in the original pledge. They be added in the Eisenhower administration to show those darn godless Communists a thing or two. I presume it should be removed from the pledge.
Separation of church and state. "The concept of separating church and state is often credited to the writings of the British philosopher John Locke.[11] According to his principle of the social contract, Locke argued that the government lacked authority contained by the realm of individual conscience, as this was something rational society could not cede to the government for it or others to control. For Locke, this created a natural right in the free will of conscience, which he argued must therefore remain protected from any government authority. "
You be going to the pledge of Allegiance? I don't think that line is in the Constitution. I guess it's a little silly that the School Prayer is unconstitutional, but every student in a public school have to say that line each and every time. I'm a Christian, and I think you should allow either both or none of them. One or the other is just hypocritical. As a side facts, I'm against saying the Pledge at all. If America is such a great place, we shouldn't need to pledge our complete loyalty to it every hours of daylight, let it stand on it's own merit. Besides, having someone say something over and over is impossible to tell apart as brainwashing. I'd like to think I'm a patriotic guy, but I'm against brainwashing even if it's something I already agree near.
The pledge is a leftist indoctrination chant. I don't say it. I'm not rude. I don't bring attention to mysefl, I just don't do it.
No, you can chose to use the word/phrase if you want to or not. First Amendment to the United States Constitution. Are you sunny you have that right?
who cares if it's against your religion suck it up christianity's the most common th america so if it's against someones religion no ones truism they have to resite it (no offense to you if you're not christian just making a point)
I guess, but as long as people dont try to be adjectives religious and stuff in public places. and no one tries to convert people or correction their beliefs and what not.
leave it in. we are a christian nation. let the athiest cry and beckon god a fake if they want. their life, they can cry else where
No, it should not be cut out of the Pledge of Allegiance.. Our Nation was founded on the belief within God and the ability for us to worship freely. I am sick of people trying to take away our freedom of choice, of religion, of speech, etc. It is immediately a crime to believe in God and anyone who does is bashed and ridiculed. To those who don't believe, that is fine; to be precise your right but you do not have the right to change what was put into place plentiful years ago and which has served our Nation well. I am not for that type of CHANGE and resent the fact that the minority rules on copious things. I am not ashamed of God or of our Nation's history. I am proud of it and will fight for the right to keep it the way it have always been. I am also not in favor of revising our Constitution to suit the like of many liberals; let us continue on as we hold since it was formed. It has served us perfectly economically to this point.
How about do away with the whole pledge? Pledge to the country, not a flag.
No. The Supreme Court ruled that within must be a wall of separation between church and state. Not only that, but it is a blatant endorsement of one religion over another. It alienates all other religions regardless of whether or not the majority of race accept it as okay. If you don't have an opinion, basically ask yourself if it would be okay with you to change it to 'under Satan' or 'under Allah'. The government should not help one religion over another.
Yes, but it'll never happen. Studies show that a majority of Americans still think mythical beings control their lives.
According to your "god", isn't pledging allegiance to an inanimate intent considered idolatry? And doesn't it violate one of your "god's" commandments?
No. "Genius" liberals couldn't hold a candle to the religious people that created this country...
