Can people(like myself) still download music or is it against the law?
yes, I agree - Limewire is definitely the best. (and if it would make you feel better, you can pay a fee to upgrade to Limewire Pro, which is much better than the free version & only costs around a tenner)
use limewire man..its the best.
you can but you have to pay sometimes
Well, if you do it through a shady peer to peer program, you open yourself up to the record companies going after you or your parents (if you are a minor). I currently belong to Yahoo unlimited and at six bucks a month for a million+ songs, you can't beat it. I believe it's $11 a month if you want to put it on an approved mp3 player.
it isn't legal, but mp3 player are legal. mp3 players are in shops, but everybody knows they are for listening illegal music. So, what mp3s are for? If it isn't legal, what is the sens of mp3s? I don't know...
Yes, there are many places you can legally purchase music for download (like iTunes and Napster, which is now legal).
There are also ways to illegally download music for free. But you shouldn't do it ... for the same reason you should not shoplift ... not because it's illegal, but because you have some integrity ... you are not a thief. Now, if you're the type of person for whom the only reason you don't shoplift is lack of courage (fear of the risk of getting caught), then downloading music is a step even lower for those with no shred of pride left at all (theft without courage or risk, what could be lower ... well, maybe dumpster diving for leftover burritos). :-)
It is legal to download music, if the artist agrees with it.
Check the music under a Creative Commons license or read

i do it everyday....got over 3000 songs. Not illegal till they come knockin on your door. Just dont admit to anything. Besides, you DO have the right to remian silent. Practice that right.
Use eMule v 1.2 - go to a search engine, type that into the search box & it'll bring up the website. Easy to download the software, it's free & reliable.
Downloading music is illegal. Especially when people are using limwire, kazaa, eDonkey, BitTorrent, and Gnuetella softwares. It's like you're stealing music from artists. If we could download music, then, cd stores won't be selling albums of cds everyday. Trust me, people get caught everyday and they go to jail. It's better to download the music and pay for it, like Walmart music download.
it never was legal....legally you should go and buy the CD or single the artist has put out that is how they make money and you are 'stealing' from them if you just download it for free.....that is legally what you should do but heck if you just want a couple of songs no one is going to do anything to you if you download them!
