Should politicians be allowed to vote to give themselves a payraise?
Answer:
Most states (and the federal government) do not allow pay raises to be in effect until the next electoral cycle.

(this amendment is interesting because it was originally part of the Bill of Rights, but didn't immediately pass. It was just recently ratified, which brings up the issue of whether an amendment is 'stale' after so many years that it needs to be voted on again by Congress before moving to the states)
And for my opinion, no, politicians should not be able to vote themselves a pay raise without an intervening election.
