Aren't you allowed to carry firearms anywhere?

I thought i recently heard that if an establishment whether it's a bank, school, post office or your local Sears and Roebuck doesn't allow guns that they MUST provide you a locked storage area for your firearm?
I live in NJ and unless your law enforcement you are not allowed to carry a concealed weapon period (there are very few exeptions). Some states such as Florida allow pretty much whoever qualifies to carry a gun (provided they don't have an extensive criminal backround). True, an establishment can tell you that you are not allowed to carry any concealed firearms into a designated zone. (i don't think sears is one of them, but post offices and schools sound about right.)
First of all you have to have a license for the guns and a separate permit to carry them concealed. As for the store providing with locked storage...I have no idea.

Answer:
NO!

You are allowed to OWN a firearm (provided you are not a previously convicted felon.)

What kind of a firearm is up to the state.
It is also up to the state (or city) to decide if anybody (and if so, WHO) is allowed to CARRY a firearm in public. There are also restrictions on HOW a firearm may be carried (concealed or in plain sight.)
.
I have never seen anything like that and I have been carrying for years. Non concealed of course, right out in the open on my hip or open in a shoulder holster.
