is the law harder on men that have beat a woman as opposed to a man that has beaten another man ?

lets suppose a man gets in a fight with a woman (which i dont agree with) and beats her up then is the law harder on that man as opposed to if a man was just to get in a fight with another man and beat him up.
Yes. The man beating on a woman, (if they're in any form of a relationship) is Domestic Violence, which is typically punished 'harder' than Assualt & Battery which would be a man beating on a man.
i would tend to think so, this is because of the existence of a 'chivalry thesis' within most justice systems, particularly if that system is comprised of males(male judge etc). men who mistreat women are dealt with more severely. also women who commit crimes are treated more leniently

No, it is the same. The only time, it is different if there is a relationship between them. The defendant is treated harder if they are related or live together. This would also apply to men on men, women on men, men on women violence.
From what I have seen in the courts I have been in it seems that way The charges and penalties may be the same but the judges tent to go harder on a man if the fight is with a woman
No not at all. Assault is Assault. If the victim presses charges the punishment is the same(Of course if a man lost a fight to another man he is probably less likely to press charges).
The law is HOWEVER harder on men when the violence happens at home and the woman he beat up is his spouse.
