Which is more dangerous..smoking or drinking?

I think that drinking is way more dangerous...this question refers to the smoking ban...I don't agree with it. I am a nonsmoker, but i don't agree with it. I think that drinking should be banned...How many times do you turn on the news and see that a drunk driver caused an accident and caused someone to die? i don't agree with it. what do you think?
drinking is more dangerous, but smoking is more than just dangerous, its messy, it affects others around th smoker, in lowers value of places to stay, it deepens a women voice (not sexy).

Drinking is dangerous, but doesnt have most of the other problems, including the MESSY part. f--king smokers toss ther butts anywhere, and ash all over the place..
Nicatine (in cigarettes) is one the most adictive things in the world
while drinking is also dangerous
good point about the drunk driving. but smokers smell like butt and they do it EVERYWHERE!! they think it is their right and that i should have to smell it. ciggarette buts EVERYWHERE!! they throw them out their windows from their cars, all over the sidewalks. drinking should not be banned, nor should smoking they should just be confined to specific places to do it, places where I am not inconvenienced
Smoking kills thousands upon thousands every year. Lung cancer, heart attack and emphysema. Drinking, unless you are a serious alcoholic kills almost no one. Driving while drunk is what kills people.
Okay, but drinking a beer doesn't make the guy next to you drunk. The point of smoking bans are to protect those who do not smoke and do not want the harmful effects of it. I don't think anyone should be allowed to smoke in any public building, I don't want to walk into a restaurant to have the place filled with smelly cigarette smoke. Drunk driving is a problem, but we shouldn't ban alcohol just because *some* people do stupid things with it. People fall asleep at the wheel as much if not more than drunk drivers. Should we ban sleep? Hold people accountable for their actions and don't hurt the law-abiding ones. And besides, ever hear of the 18th Amendment, it was shortly repealed.
Every person I've known who had smoked died from a smoking related disease. The effects of smoking stays in the body a lot longer than alcohole. My grandfather had sludged pumped out of his knee due to smoking. And as for the smoking ban I agree with it 100%. I HATE the smell of it. It makes me physically sick. I don't want to breathe in second hand smoke. It's disgusting. I have the right to breathe smoke-free air and my rights shouldn't violated from someones filthy smoke.
smoking definently. each cig t...

smoking + drinking like my dad...

drugs..nvm
It depends on how you look at it. For personal health, smoking is worse. From a public point of view, drinking is worse.

Either way, I agree with you.

Answers:
drinking not only causes damage to the drinker,it also as you have said kills people in accidents and there's to many family's with a father drinking and getting out of control.
this does not mean smoking is healthy or does not affect others if within a smoker.
but in fatal accidents and family damage drinking takes the lead.
Depends what you mean by dangerous. They're both bad for your health and can cause cancers amongst other things, though I'd say smoking is more of a health risk in that sense.
On the roads, alcohol is more dangerous obviously because of alcohol intoxication. Some so-called experts say that small quantities of alcohol are beneficial to health, but I'm not convinced, at the end of the day though, both drinking and smoking can potentially be harmful - it's a case of making your choice and knowing the risks.
I am also a none smoker but i have an occasional drink ciggerette smoke is passed on as it stays in the air so it affects people around but drink is a personal thing which only taken in large amounts affects the person drinkin it, they are both harmful and can cause harrendous illnesses.
Good question with many answers as a possibility. It will basically depend on how much of either, and whether or not you want to factor in second-hand effects to others of both (lung-disease or a drunk driver accident).

In moderation, smoking will be more dangerous albiet a slow danger, as it destroys your lungs. In moderation drinking does not hurt the liver as you give your body time to repair itself.

However, turn the tables to heavy drinking, and then you have liver damage, not to mention the dangerous (a posibly deadly) decisions you can make when impaired.

Both can be deadly, just at different paces. As far as the ban, I agree with it. Providing that the person is following the law, a person drinking has no effect on me, whereas a person smoking is causing me and my family to inhale things we don't want to- not to mention the stench.
there is a safe and sensible level for drinking, any smoking is harmful to your health but excessive drinking has more obvious harm to other people then excessive smoking.
It's hard to measure precisely because alcohol and tobacco are so different, but both substances can be quite dangerous if the user isn't handling them responsibly. For one thing, nobody's prohibited smoking or the use of tobacco in general, so I don't see why you're calling for the government to ban all drinking. You're apparently confusing regulation with prohibition. You're still free to smoke in your own home or anyplace else where it isn't specifically banned. Likewise, drinking or being drunk off your @ss is also banned in public (whether you're in a car or walking around acting stupid) but you're legally free to drink at home or in any private establishment that allows it. In both cases, the idea is that you can put what you want in your own damn body as long as you're not causing a danger or a nuisance to anybody else. Being drunk while operating a car is very dangerous and alcohol lowers the inhibitions of violent people thus making them more likely to be violent, but at least drunks keep their drug contained within their own bodies. A smoker in a public area is the equivalent of an alcoholic who forces some of his booze down the throats of the people around him. Smoking can eventually shorten your life and is a health hazard to the people around you, and countless fires have been started by careless smokers that have taken out entire buildings and even forests. And excessive drinking can cause health problems of it's own over time. They both litter - lots of smokers toss their butts on the ground everywhere, and many drinkers toss their beer cans and bottles everywhere. And both substances are taxed by the government in order to help limit their use and to provide an easy source of revenue.
