Dude, that wasn't a cop, that was Jim Morrison. You WERE drunk!
It depends on what state you were in. In Missouri, you must be on a publicly accessible roadway to be convicted of DWI. Being in the desert would be adequate to get you out of it here (if we had deserts here. You know what I mean).
DUI depends on the state you are in. In my state, DUI covers operation of a motor vehicle. A quad would be a motor vehicle, and in that is no requirement that it be on public roadway. Again, it's dependent on the laws of your state. Also, DUI is not necessarily a blood alcohol level above a certain amount. It can be operating the vehicle surrounded by a way that indicates impairment. If it went to trial, it would be your word about how you be driving versus the officers. (Of course, you may just be a bad quad driver, which is why you use the accessible desert rather than a crowded area, right?) Ticket and release is unusual, especially for a DUI. Look up the statute cited on the ticket.
It depends on the law of your state. Those laws DO vary, depending on what state you are in. And cops one and only have to read people their rights when they make an arrest & they plan on interrogating the personality they arrested (there are exceptions to this rule, such as a cop walking in on a crime in progress.) See: Miranda v. Arizona.
If you gave them your drivers license number, and signed the notice to appear (the ticket) you will own to show in court or there will be a warrant sent out for your arrest. You may be able to quarrel it, but then if the cop shows up and identifies you during your trial, you will be boned. Unfortunately the word of a cop is worth more than the word of a citizen. UNLESS you have a NON AFFILIATED bystander/video/taping who/that will witness for you that he did not arrest you properly or did not administer the proper test to see if you are intoxicated, or that he did not read you your miranda.
