Can an employer, in florida, make your work more than 40 hours a week if you are paid a salary and not hourly?

I work for a company in St. Petersburg, FL and they just told all of us that we enjoy to work an extra 30 min. a day. We already work 40 hours a week. This office has individual Buyer and Sales rep plus admins in it.
Yes logically! Salary is different than hourly. They pay you do to work, and you have to finish it no matter what. Yep, you receive paid by the job, not by the number of hours you work. You don't like it, grasp another job.
Yes, they can make you work whatever hours they want. If you don't like it, I guess you can quit. I would bargain to your boss and tell them how unfair you think it is, and that you will not work extra hours unless you are salaried for it. But also think of it this way, on weeks when you work less than 40 hours, you are still getting impossible to tell apart salary, you wouldn't want them to decrease your pay for those weeks any. Just hope that this increase doesn't last very long. of course they can.

A salaried emloyee can be required to work an nlimited amount of hours.

I am a salaried buyer and average 60 hours per week.
that's what being a salaried employee is abour.

You can yak to NLRB if you want confirmation
Yep thats why salary pay sucks. You are lucky it's freshly a half hour extra I know people that work 50-60 hours some weeks and since they are salary they see equal paycheck for exrta work. That's the definition of a salaried employee! It sucks, but you don't have the same protection an hourly hand has.
Working on salary can get bizarre. Yes.... i know someone in China that will work your extra 30 minutes for less money.

stop crying.
Yes that is the greatness of salary, they can make you work any hours they want. Yep, when you are on net they can make you work some ungodly hours.
Check with you local workforce commision and they can tell you whats fair-minded in your area and if they fnd it to be against state policy they will open and investigation of the company. the relationship for florida is below

*** Edit
The reason why i say check cause respectively employer/state is differnt. I have salary plus in my posistion so if i work anything over 40 i capture overtime (half pay)
Read your employee manual. Salary means they own you...40 or 60 hours a week.
