If Georgia recognized a Massachusetts gay marriage, would Mass.recognize my Ga. right to carry a gun in the ca?
No license required to keep side arm in your car contained by Georgia. Not in Vermont either.
Best Answer:
Like you're gonna drive your ca to Mass. It is more likely that some wealthy gay those would like to visit Georgia and spend some money though.
No, nor are they a related issue.
No. Recognition of a marriage contracted contained by another State is different from regulation of conduct that occurs within the borders of a State. You have to abide by respectively State's gun laws while you are in the State, with the restricted exceptions (e.g., interstate travel) where federal law governs.
No Marriage is ( was ) approved by all states, gun laws are not
Some things transfer...some don't. Marriages and drivers license are recognized in every state. Professional licenses are not - states can craft specific reciprocal agreements. I'm not sure if a travel document to carry ends at the state lines or not.
It's an interesting hypothesis, however, your gun permit isn't transferable. I would maintain that it is a state's right to accept or reject even the marriage license issued by another state. But with the current court climate, I doubt that argument would hold water.
