A friend got caught with vicodins and we were wondering if he needed a lawyer to ask for work release?
Your question is to vague to give a response. If the discovery of possession was at work was a stipulation of some sort put on him and by whom. If your friend has a narcotics problem he should seek professional help as well as legal help as they can both be equally beneficial when dealing with the legal system or attempting to preserve a job.
It depend on your state, I think. I would talk to a lawyer for an hour or just see if they can get a quick answer over the phone from an attorney without having to pay.
I would recommend that he/she starts going to a 12-step program before the judge sees him/her. Everyone involved will be in a better frame of mind.
