Can I refuse a lunch break in CT if I only work 7 hours?
I work in CT and I work 35 hr/wk (7-hour days, 5-days/wk). I researched CT labor law and it states employers must provide a 30 minute lunch break if the member of staff works a 7.5 hour or longer shift. I only work 7 hours. I know my employer doesn't technically have to give me a lunch break but can they also force me to transport one (unpaid, of course) if I don't want to? They are also stating it has to be 45 minutes. Is this allow either? Thank you. Since CT has a specific ruling regarding this situation, wouldn't state statute override Federal law?

Well you HAVE to clock out whether or not you use your break time or not. jabril♀♂
An employer has the right to schedule human resources as the employer sees fit. You can refuse the break. They can fire you.
Federal law is the minimum required. Absent a collective barganing agreement, the state does not interfere beside what you are scheduled or how. Allowed.
Federal law states you must own a lunch break after 6 continuous hours of work.It isn't what you want to do, it is what the Feds say they must do. No, you cannot refuse.
