Should Council House residents be means tested?
Were they not set up for young families starting out and people next to disabilities who couldn't work for example? Surely if there is a family of 4 for example (2 adults and 2 grown up children) all working and bringing within an income of say lb80k between them, they should be paying more than lb50 a week in rent or moving out and buying or renting in the private flea market so that a young couple or single person starting off can move within? Why is it that taxpayers have to subsidise council houses for people who may be earning a considerable amount of income more than them?
