Why are there so many permits and fees for new homes and home owners?
New manufatured home, placed on property owned for 10 years, with home on it. fee to see if home can be placed there, fee for registration, fee for certificate of occupancy, fee for registration, fee for titling NEW home only to pay another fee to detitlize with DMV. Fee for septic tank permit and inspection by the time FEES are paid there is not much left for expense of home. Oh yeah, Fee for the electric company to come to the property to place a stake into the ground for the crew to come in and supply electricity to the new house. Of course if you have the money to pay the electric comopany to Move the power poles from your driveway so that the new house can be delivered *($3,500) you would think that that would cover ALL the fees for them Aiken Electric Cooperative, Aiken SC. Who is making money from the use of the utility poles on MY property from 8 meters behind me. Penalize honest people who actually go through this mess.
Its a way for the state, county & or city to start collecting money from you before your first tax bill, when they can sock it to you again! Then too, you have to have a title company look into the title to the land even if it had been done recently, the utilities must start making money ASAP, otherwise they might go broke! Every possible way for you to pay out your hard earned money has been thought of before you even start the process of building. Its just the usual rip off & has happened to all of us at one time or the other & you either pay or you don't build!
It sucks, doesn't it? This is one of the ways cities/counties earn revenue.

These are nothing but revenue collection for the city and county.
You have to pay for numerous inspections but if they fail to find problems they don't stand behind their inspection nor reimburse you for failing to find the flaws. So the inspection have no meaning. They pretend to do the job and collect the fee but there is nothing that comes of it.
