As long as you like, just don't expect your job backbone. Generally it's six weeks. Contact your employer.

If you have been at your job for more than a year and your company employ more than 50 people within a 75 mile radius of where you work, afterwards FMLA applies and you are entitled to up to 12 weeks off without pay. New Jersey also have its own law, which basically is the same as FMLA, but I'm have trouble finding specifics on it.
