Who else except for me finds it difficult to stay truely green when the products are so expensive?

Organic and green products aren't getting any cheaper and honestly I don't think they will be anytime soon. Sorry but at heart I consider myself a conspiracy theorist. Live Earth concerts are great and everything but just like one guy said on the news thousands if not millions of people drove their cars to these concerts (somehow I hardly think the concert sparked a car pooling frenzy) why not encourage those who can to stay home and watch on their computers. I just can't help thinking that in the end when everyone is a loyal environmentalist that someone is going to have the biggest check cut for them.
people don't understand the effect of gas.

just think of how much gas we used in our lives? how much money a year? how much time spent driving?

it's almost like we do it because we can't fathom a world on bikes, cause then how are we supposed to go to concerts 40 miles away for 'live earth'

man is destroying earth, no need for concerts to prove it.
I buy organics and from local farmers but I do so on an even basis.

Their prices compete right along with everyone else.

If they ain't the cheapest and/or best, they lose.

Answer:
There are so many ways to go 'green' without spending a lot of money. First, instead of talking about 'green' products, let's talk about ways to go green that don't involved shopping, buying or consuming.

Reduce the number and length your own car trips; reduce the number/amount of products(in general) that you buy; look for products that use less packaging; re-use the packaging if you can; recycle packaging at mailing centers; turn your thermostat down; wash in cold water; only run the dishwasher when it's full; make sure your irrigation system isn't wasting water; replace high maintenance lawns with more natural or native plants; eliminate the use of pesticides in your home and garden; etc.

Reducing your impact (or footprint) on the earth doesn't have to cost more money. The green product companies would like you to think you need their products in order to be green-but that's really an oxymoron, if you think about it.

Yes, the concerts are huge power-consuming, polluting events, and people will burn all kinds of gas getting to the events. But I think it's a good sign of the popularity of this movement. I have faith that the movement will outlast this trend and actually change the way we live on this earth. I'm a 'green' Realtor in Marin County, California.
