legal question about an accident?
Legal question about an accident? give or take a few 10 days ago i was involved in a car fluke where it was truthfully not my fault. i be in a right turn lane and the lane to my left was merging into my lane because of road construction (it be aligned and guided by cones). a car came up next to me on the departed hand side and hit my car, knocking rotten it's own side view mirror, leaving my car mildly scratched. in a minute the lady is calling me asking for 100 dollars worth of damages and i do NOT want to pay her for something that is 100% her breakdown. sorry to sound naive, but what do i do in this situation? i'm young at heart and don't have the time or money to get into a legal brawl over this.. any advice would be appreciated. thank you! 5 hours ago - 4 days left to answer. Additional Details i should add that i be very far from home when this happened. it happened contained by a different county about 4 hours away from where i live as i was here on vacation. i didn't have a camera on me and i can't go wager on to take pictures of the construction. is this relevant? one more thing is that i spoke to her yesterday, because she in actual fact called me over 10 days later (i didn't think she would..) and i told her i would contact her again until that time afternoon today. am i obligated to? i just want to blow her off and talk to my insurance company instead. can this be held against me? thank you for that "little girl" comment, but i in actuality did not see her. and no, the police was not involved and the question here isn't whether or not i'm 100% innocent. it's what to do about paying this girl money. i enjoy given the details and facts and i'm just looking for direction as to what to do next. thank you her damage is emphatically an easy fix. her mirror just snapped out of place. adjectives the wiring and everything important is still attached. she just requests to re-adhere it

did you bother to call the cops and have them do a report and say who is at mistake or are you assuming. just cause your in the right lane doesnt trademark you innocent did you speed up to keep her out if so your the one at fault for failing to yield you know they needed to get over and refused to allow it no such thing little girl as 100% one being fault
Contact your insurance company, and have them deal with it. That's what you take-home pay them for.
Do not pay this woman any money! She is trying to take advantage of your youth & inexperience. She also know her chances are poor of collecting from your insurance company. Give her your insurance information after you speak to your agent, and tell her not to call you again. Your insurance agent should be capable of provide you with a card that will outline procedures for you to follow in case of an disaster.
always call the cops because they may not hold current insurance they may have a warrent for their arrest or no drivers licence and they may later claim it was your reproach or medical problems ect. But since you did not small claims court let th ejudge figure it out and the insurance CO.
