will this cost money out of pocket for a lawyer?
or is it one of those things where he or she can get 1/3 without me have to lay out cash up front. I was walking my dog and someone unknown to me punched me in the mouth when my dog go on their lawn. The person was charged beside harrassment in the 2nd degree. I never touched the person, my dog didn't any. She didn't do her business or anything on his property. Just wandered on it. I followed to get her and he punched me in the mouth and told me to "draw from off my property". I went to the emergency room and was diagnosed beside a head injury, a strained neck (sent home with a cervical collar on), facial bruises and a cut lip. I want to hire a attorney to sue this guy for him to pay the medical bills and if possible some "pain and suffering" but I don't enjoy any money to give a lawyer up front. If that is the overnight case I very well may not be suing him. If that is the valise, so be it. You can't expect a lawyer to work for free. So is this the kind of case where on earth you have to put up"big money" first? If so, how much? Thank you.

Unless there is more to the story, there is unlikely to be enough of a payday to put together it worth a lawyers time to take the case on contingency. That's the fruitless news. The good news is that - again, unless there's more to the story - you can sue him within small claims court where you don't need a lawyer. (In copious States, lawyers are not even allowed) Richard
you can probably hire a lawyer on a contingency justification (usually this means that the lawyer will work for free, but take 1/3rd of doesn`t matter what money is brought in)

If the dude has no insurance that covers punching society (he doesn't) and has no significant assets, then in adjectives likelihood the lawsuit will lead to a judgment but no money. If i.e. so, then most lawyers will not take the crust on a contingency because they will never get paid.
