Minimum driving age in australia?

Lately i've been hearing about the administration raising the legal driving age from 16 to 17. Is this true, i havent read about this on the internet or see anything on the news. I've simply heard about it from friends. I'm turning 16 subsequent feb, so this is pretty important to me. If this is true, please give me a website that proves it.
I heard a similar rumour, but they be saying that the cut-off age is 1994. Meaning everyone born in '94 and after will have to obtain it when they're 17. So if that is true, bad luck for me, seeing as i was born contained by '94, but you should be alright. My cousin, who is 20 now, said that the same thing have been going round since he was fourteen. If something like that be comming up everyone would know, especially you since you are due to get your licence in a couple of months. I really don't think you should verbs that much, the age is still 16!
I was going to answer 16, till i read what you said about changes, i bring to mind because of accidents i think they were considering raise the age.

I guess the best way to find out is ring the police, or licencing centre. They are the people most likekly beside the updated information.
