Is this right??
My grandfather is very sick and has bin for a while now. so as you can figure he is on alot of pills and things to keep him going. now neathier of my grandparents work so they don't have much money between doctor bills, other bills, gas and the things that they need. now my grandfather was getting help to pay for his meds. through insurence so it wasn't so much for them to pay. and he got a letter in the mail the other day and they said that they wern't going to pay for his pills anymore. so what is he supposed to do? he needs these pills to live and he really can't afford to buy them. besically what i'm asking is can they do that? can they really say they won't pay for the pills that he needs to live?
unfortunately yes Becca they can and they do. Is it right? No . Check with the doctor to see if he has samples your grandparents can take. Also contact the manufacture of the medicine. They do help people get there meds for nothing. Another place is check with your local Social Service department. I work in a hospital pharmacy that has a program to help the not so fortunate to get there meds , sometimes for free. Look for a intigent care facility.. Good luck and I hope one of these ideas can help you..
He needs to do 2 things, immediately. First, contact his physician and let the physician know. There may be another drug he can take. Then call Social Security (they have a toll free number) and explain it to them. Make sure you have his social security number when you call.
They will straighten it out for him. But do it right away so it can be done before he needs prescriptions refilled.

Please do three things for your grandfather: first, have him call his physician and give you permission to speak to them on his behalf. Tell the doc what is going on and ask if there is a way that your grandfather can be given samples for a while until this is straightened out. Physicians want their patients to have their meds, too. Second, find out and get him signed on with a local health clinic that specializes in care for the financially needy. They may be able to help him with his medications. Third, find out who each of the manufacturers of your grandfather's medicines are - go to their websites and research whether they offer assistance to people who cannot pay for their medications. Many times manufacturers have programs that are designed to reduce costs and/or comp costs for people who cannot afford certain medications. You will have to check with each manufacturer of each medicine, however. America is in a sad, sad way . . . Good luck -
