Should cigarettes be banned?

Tell why also please & thank you. :-)
Only if you smoke. I don`t smoke but I respect the right of the person to smoke if they want to
Nope, people have the right to be stupid, and do things that harm themselves. Currently the complications of obesity are kicking smoking's *** with regards to death tolls. So if we ban smoking we should also ban being fat, after all most of the time they are the result of habitual behavior.
Without a doubt NO!

But, 'places of public accommodation' (Hotels, restaurants, bars, etc) should have to post their smoking policy in the entry of their establishment!

One of three signs:

Smoking is allowed throughout the establishment.

Smoking areas available, request non-smoking accommodations.

Smoking is prohibited on the premises.

We (smokers like me, and non smokers/anti-smokers) can all live together! It just takes some coordination! Can't stand smoke at all? don't pass through the entrance of a place displaying the sign 'smoking allowed throughout the establishment!'

Will tolerate some smoke, but prefer smoke free accommodations? You are in luck! Look for signs stating that 'smoking areas are available' (meaning that non smoking areas are also available), or 'smoking is allowed throughout the establishment' (meaning that anti-smokers should not enter).

Hard core smokers should avoid 'smoking is prohibited' establishments, and specify Smoking area when in an establishment where 'smoking areas are available'.

As a smoker, I'm willing to 'let the market decide'. Just give me a place in the 'public accommodation matrix'!

Until you do, I'll save some serious bucks on tips and cab fares! My smoking friends will simply avoid 'places of public accommodation' and hang out at 'our places', where we can let that tobacco BURN!
Yes, for the same reasons motocycle helmets and seat belts are required... to prevent illness/injury which is both injurious to the person and to 'society' at large. That is... when they get sick and cannot pay for their medical treatment... guess who ultimately pays? WE do. If you can pay for your meds... go ahead and smoke and get sick. Otherwise, don't ask me to pay for the consequences of your bad habits.

Answer:
No, they shouldn't be banned. I like the way Smedrick put it. People have the right to be stupid. Banned as they are now, inside public buildings is fine. That makes sense. The smoker is inflicting a dangerous health condition on someone else, but, there are places here in California where they are banning cigarettes from outdoor areas and I think this is just taking things way too far. This is just so wrong. Even if you don't smoke and even if you think it's stupid, you don't have the right to take away someone else's rights from doing something out in the open air where it doesn't hurt anyone!
Yes, becasue people still do things that will kill themselves, becasue people are dump and like to self medicate.
People know that it will kill you and still do it..why?
It is to bad becasue the money for the business is to much and people make so much off of it....
but it will never
I respect the right to smoke but i hate when people smoke around me! I dont want lung cancer you can go get it by yourself! So I think it should be banned in public places or at least have certain places for ONLY SMOKING
