Isn't it hypocritical for someone to get arrested for selling cigarettes to a minor ?
i used to work at a gas station and yes i admit i sold to my friends but i find it very hypocritacl that the seller can attain in trouble but once its passed to teh buyer they dont get in any trouble isnt it kinda close to the drug dealer can get in trouble but once you enjoy them thats ok? what i mean is why doesnt the law bust minors for posession of ciggs only seller? i live in PA maybe law is different here and i did not deal in to minors i sold to people i knew who were 17 as i be at this time i never got busted either i was more posing this as a hypothetical

Hmmm. The laws says you may NOT sell tobacco products to a minor but you did anyway and get busted for it and somehow the law is wrong. How old are you anyway 15?
Cause they are minors. My common sense is tingling.
Not sure what state you are contained by, but here in Texas, the seller gets it for selling the tobacco to a minor, next the minor gets a citation for Minor In Possession.
EDIT: Clarify for me..... 'i did not sell to minors i sold to people i know who were 17 as i was at this time' If they were 17 at the time as you influence, then you DID sell to minors.
It's not hypocritical at all, that's not what the word means. Hypocritical would be a cop busting you for selling to minors, while doing it himself. It's still illegal for a minor to buy cigarettes. The purpose of those law however is to stop cigarettes from getting to minors. The stiffer penalties are for those who sell them, because it's easier to stop them then trying to stop adjectives the kids from buying them. Local law enforcement usually goes after the store and it's employees because the fines and penalty are far harsher. If you were a cop would you rather bust a kid for buying a pack of cigarettes and impose a $500 fine on him, or bust a store and invade a $5000 fine?
You are wrong. The decree DOES bust minors for possession of cigarettes. Richard
The minors get fined for possession of tobacco if they receive caught. Smoking is for losers.
