Of course not that's ridiculous. If you took every person on the planet and gave them 2 square feet of land on which to stand you could fit every living human on earth within the city limits of Oklahoma City. Overpopulation is a myth.

That would be nice but no plausable in the US. We should encourage people to not over reproduce. Say a $10k bonus for sterilization if you have had 2 or less children. A tax break for childless families and no tax break for families with children. Reduced property tax for childless families. etc

What would they do, kill off every child that is over the limit? They should never pass such a law. If population is a problem, there is always skyscrapers. Like I say, if you can't build out, build up.

Sounds good in theory but it's not possible. I hate seeing poor people who keep having kids and the taxpayers end up paying for it. It wouldn't be possible to force the women to get their tubes tied from a human rights point of view. If this ever did happen I'd also like to see an aptitude test for people before they're allowed tohave kids AT ALL. Some people just have no clue.
No, cos what if say you had 4 kids and the limit was five, but by the time the 5th was due, one or more of the others had moved out.
a law like that invades on our personal rights and everything that this country stands for. However maybe they can provide incentives to families that choose to go through the sterilization process to prevent their family from growing bigger. Tax break, or something.
No. 1st, that is evil and not in line with American philosphy about civil liberties. 2nd, as in most wealthy developed nations, without any such law we do not even reproduce enough to replace ourselves (I think there is currently 1.7 children per couple). The only reason our population increases is because of immigration.
I believe all countries should do it. It's population control and it's about time someone took action. There are too many humans living on this planet and earth's resources are getting lower everyday. More people, more pollution, more cities that damage earth, more resources taken up and etc. Don't kill the already existing people, control the population, so in the future we won't have more people than necessary.
No, it should be up to each individual family to decide how many children to have in the family. My mam has 15 brothers and sisters and in Ireland(where I live) years ago, this was quite common and our country is tiny and was very poor back then but we were able to cope with this, and I can't see why the America would have problems if people decided to have bigger families, that they would need to bring in a law like this.

They should probably start thinking about it. Unfortunately, the people who can afford to have kids and fund them through life are the ones that aren't having a lot of kids. Welfare moms that keep having babies to get bigger welfare checks could eventually pose a problem. As 'desperate' as the US claims to be for oil, I think we should try to slow our population growth as the more people we keep producing, the more cars those people are eventually going to have. Yeah, I guess the government would say it's supposed to be a free country, but is it really anymore? I wouldn't take it as far as China did, but some restrictions could be enforced and some better programs to get low income families birth control would be a great start. (Government has seriously cut Planned Parenthood funding, which is NOT just for abortions. Many low income families use places like Planned Parenthood to get birth control that they otherwise could not afford. If people have a problem with abortion, then I guess they could make it so Planned Parenthood couldn't offer abortion services.)
I dont think that we should limit the amount of children to all americans, But i do beleive we should have some kinda program.. Paying women and men that do not need children to get fixed permently like drug addicts, dead beats that cant take care of children, and those that are abusive. I would much rather pay a couple of hundred dollars to one, to get fixed then pay a life time of welfare.
I feel that as long as you can support your family, than you can have as many babies as you want. Now for all those who are having babies and knowing you can't support one than you should be using protection.
NO. Without passing a law like that, Americans are already cutting down the family size on their own. The days when family's consisted of 6 kids and more are gone. These days the largest family (Most common) exist of 6 and under. They cannot afford to have a lot of kids. The cost of living is so high. Pretty soon the govt will be asking us to have more kids instead of less.

Absolutely not - a family should be able to have as many children as they desire and are able to properly care for. To mandate otherwise would be in violation of basic human rights.

Comments about an 'immigration problem' I have stated before and will state again, I remember reading an article a few years ago that said we would have a NEGATIVE growth rate without immigration. This is very bad. When a society stops growing, it begins to die.
Tax breaks for families without children. Sure and no Social Security if you don't have children, oh and no using school grounds, since your taxes aren't going to pay for them. I am sure that if I took time to think of them, I'd come up with more.
If you are worried about resources, that is a different story, but limiting children doesn't solve it. If you have enough food to feed fifty people for fifty days, toy could feed twenty-five people for one-hundred days, but then what? You still run out, you just prolong it. The answer for this problem is invest in Space. We have to get off of this mud ball and start using the rest of our system, and find ways elsewhere.
