Unemployment in Maryland....eligibility when position has been terminated but offered another one?
I've been covering someones position at my job for the past 8 weeks while she go out for medical reasons. I was notified concluding week that the job that I was doing before the 8 weeks is no longer needed. So essentially I am one laid off. I was offered another job contained by the company instead but it's not something that I want to do nor was I hired to do. I've let them know that and they agreed that I could stick around for 2 weeks while I look for another job. I'm actively looking for a chore but while I am here I am doing all kinds of jobs. I'd close to to leave but I'm afraid it will be considered "quitting" and I won't be eligible for unemployment. I can't find anything online that gives me a clear answer. Can anyone back? Thanks! Now how do I close this question and make someones that best answer?
Best Answer:
uh...you were offered employment. Unless nearby was a substantial decrease in rate, you're probably going to be denied job loss if you refuse the job.
if they offered you a job and you refuse, that is quitting. No unemployment That the other job until things pick up
