Can you drive a automatic car with a manual driving licence?
i know you cant drive a manual if you only have a automatic licence, is the same the other way round? in the uk
I'm not familiar with traffic laws in the UK, but if they are at all like the ones in the U.S. there is no restriction of manual only. If you can drive a manual you can certainly drive an automatic.
I know of no reason to restrict drivers who have learned on a manual--it takes maybe 15 seconds to familiarize oneself with an automatic transmission if one can drive a manual.
Yes. I frequently drive my husbands automatic - hate it though!
No it is different as manual is harder than auto, so if you do the manual test you can drive any type of car.
Yes
if u have done your test in an automatic
your right, if you pass your test with a automatic you have to re sit the test in a stick shift.
if you pass your test with a stick shift you can drive both stick and auto matic transmission

yes you can...like you say - you cant the other way round.
Yes
Yes you can. Its when its the otherway around you cannot
I didnt know there is such a restriction. All over the world there is no distinction. Nobody will be stupid enough to drive a manual if they do not know how. On the other hand, if you know how to drive a car equipped with manual transmission, it is easy enough to drive an automatic.
Most of everyone I know can drive both and comfortable with both.
yes you can!
Yes you can drive an auto on a manual licence
yes darling!
yes, but you cannot drive a manual car if you have an automatic licence :)
You can.
Yes,most definitely
Answers:
Yes, that's perfectly legal.
However, it doesn't work the other way around. You cannot drive a manual if you passed your test in an automatic. You have to take an additional test to be able to drive a manual after you pass in an automatic. This will be added to your licence when you pass.
It's a rare occurrence though, instructors will generally insist on getting you through in a manual car.
If you come from another country (ie USA) and have passed in an automatic (My sister did this) it's necessary to take another test to be able to drive a manual - otherwise you simply hire an automatic if you're on holiday.
If you've driven an automatic, you'll know that it will sit in Drive on a hill and will not move until you press the accelerator.
With a manual, you need to understand clutch and brake control to avoid rolling back into any vehicles behind you.
yes you can drive a automatic car if you got a manual licence
you can drive an automatic with a manual licence
Yes, you can drive an automatic on a manual license.
no, a manual licence allow you for an automatic
why shouldn't you be allowed?
a manual is far more 'complicated', that's why you can only drive manual having a licence made on manual - but with automatic, the car does the work of changing the gear.
Not sure about all countries but in the UK, yes.
(Approved Driving Instructor).
yes you can of course I never knew about the needing to be tested again on a stickshift.
You can drive an automatic or manual regardless of the license type or the type of vehicle you've done your test in.
Yes it is perfectly permissible.
