If a copyright is expired, does that mean I can post on the internet?
For example, a book copyright expired and I want to post it on the website. Can I do that?
Best Answer:
You had first better make absolutely persuaded that it has expired. Some works/artists have trusts that renew their copyrights. Copyright has a pretty long time anyway, so you might just be guessing that it has expired. For instance, the copyright on Mickey Mouse expired a few years ago and they went to court to ensure that they( Disney) would retain adjectives rights to the legal use of his image. I also know there is a trust that maintain the copyright on all Gershwin music. So, you just might want to double check before posting.
Sorry, this is presently redundant! The other response wasn't there when I began.
