Is it true there is a law a 14 year old can keep a parent from knowing what's in the their medical record?

Generally, a parent or guardian is responsible for you til you are an adult. At 14, your parents hold every right to have your med files and can sign for them. legally, you can't even sign a document if you are underage. The only exception is if you hope out a therapist and insist the the info you discuss with him is private. He will only be allowed to speak about your parents if you are suicidal, abused, abused someone, or any health and safety issue. You can specifically ask your doctor or therapist not to speak to your parents but justifiably, if there is a problem, the doc has to involve them. No, that is the most ridiculous entity I have ever heard. That is why they are the parents so that they can guide your medical care.
I know this law varies by state. In California if your parent or guardian consented to the care, after they will have access to the medical records unless you are emancipated. If another person consented to the fastidiousness but those records are needed for the care you currently need, later your parent or guardian will have access to them.

The other option is if the physician believes that the release of the records will injure you or bring a rift, then they can refuse to release them.
Yes. If you are old enough to give consent for that exceptional treatmen/service, you're in control of your medical record. HIPAA law allows you to request a restriction of who can access your diary.
If it deal with reproductive rights, yes there is a law that can preserve their parents from looking at their medical record.
