Witness At A Defense Court Case?
I have to stand trial as a witness for the defense side of a court case. I have never be to trail, don't know what it means to stand witness, and don't know what to expect. I've never done anything revolving trial before. All I know is what a witness is and what the defense side is. I was wondering if anyone could furnish me any information regarding this or explain to me. What does it all mean? Also, if you could confer me any tips or suggestions, that would also be greatly appreciated. I am very confused! Thank you. If they decide to call me as a witness and ask question, what type of questions should I expect them to ask? I have to stand as a witness for my boyfriend's court case. He is defending himself something like something his ex claims he does. He has the help of a lawyer. The advocate just told my boyfriend's dad, who just told me, that I would have to stand witness on trial for my boyfriend's court shield.

The lawyer who is calling you as a witness should prepare you for testifying. You will be call into the courtroom when it is your turn to testify. You will be sworn in, taking an oath to tell the truth. The lawyer who call you as a witness asks questions first, then the other lawyer get to ask questions. Listen carefully to each quiz and ask to have it clarified if you don't understand it. Don't answer more than the question call for--don't volunteer information. Be as truthful as you can possibly be, but don't guess if you don't know the answer. Say you don't know or aren't sure. When you're done testifying you will be excused by the judge.

Just answer all their questions accurately and truthfully. However if you think an answer might incriminate you yourself, you can vote I refuse to answer by my rights of the 5th amendment. Just be calm and don't be nervous. They aren't nearby to prosecute you as you are just a witness. They will ask you questions like be you at the scene of the crime or whatever and what did you see and what was going on, etc. Don't answer the question near anything more than a yes or no and don't volunteer any information they didn't ask for or try to elaborate. Make sure you show up on time.
Will you not have the opportunity to meet next to the defense counsel? Have you been subpoenaed or are you appearing voluntarily? You will be sworn and asked a series of questions. It mechanism that at some point during the trial the defense attorney will announce that he is calling you as a witness. The bailiff will have you come forward. You will take the oath. The defense lawyer will ask question of you. You will answer those questions. Then the other side will ask questions of you and you will answer.
