Should abortion be legal?
Hey y'all. I'm writing an essay on Abortion (yeah I know you've heard bout this topic a lot LOL!) and I just wanna know what others think about this controversial issue. Do you think abortion should be legal? Holla back!
It is legal.
its gonna be a short essay!
But it is legal......?
Where on earth are you from ?
women should be able to make their own decisions thats what i think
I think it should be legal.
Government should not interfere with the private matters of the people. Abortion should be a decision made by the mother and father of the child, not the goverment.
I don't view it as a personal choice for myself..I wouldn't but I don't have the right to force my views onto someone else. I don't understand though how you can trust someone with a child if you cannot trust them with a choice.
yes,reduce povety.
it is legal!
and it should be!
nobody would ever think differently if there wasn't for terrors of religions!
No I don't.... there is no need to get pregnant in the first place, so why take a life, people should be more responsible...
in some occasions it should be like if a girl was raped or if there was something wrong with the baby, that the baby wouldn't live when it was born because of some illness.
yes it should be legal, look at those women who lost their lives trying to get it from the illegal way... It should be legal and should be done under hygienic conditions...
I believe that it should be legal because I believe that it acceptable in some circumstances and the burden of proof should not be on the pregnant woman to prove that she is an unfit mother by incriminating herself or to prove that she is a rape victim. The vast majority of women seeking abortions do so only because they feel they have no other options. I believe that everyone who wants to eliminate abortions should work towards finding alternatives.
no i dont you have a choice not to get pregnant in the first place.
Yes
any where it is not ,or where contraception is illegal, is absolutely irrational and totally prejudiced against women
It is legal. Women have a right to do whatever they want with their bodies. It may be argued that the fetus has a right too, but do other people have a right to life when it interferes with someone else's right? You may want to look into an essay A Defense of Abortion by Judith Thomson, where she compares abortion with being forced to give blood to a famous violinist. Just because your body can be used to give another body life does not mean you should be obligated to use it that way.

Each to their own.
If I am anti abortion than I should be pro childhood and compusory births for all... we pick and choose in society or have limits impose on population...(china) adoption I see is natural choice...
Yes, people deserve the right to chose.
Yes. If it wasn't thousands of women and girls would be suffering from the results of back street procedures.
there are strong views on both sides of this issue , you picked a doozie to do your essay on . anyway , I think it should be legal . it isnt all about irrisponsible people with unplanned preganacies. it is also a matter of women who have to have an abortion for medical reasons and if not they die.
I think it is a personal choice. each person needs to choose for themselves. I think if you dont believe in abortion then dont ever get one . It is that simple.
Yes it should be legal in every country. Not everyone has the choice as to when they have sex and if they get pregnant. Also there could be health implications with either the female or the baby which means they don't have a choice but to have a termination
To Margaret what if a girl is raped?? Does she have the choice to have sex and get pregnant??
In the UK it's legal, Ireland I think it's illegal. What about rape that results in a child, should the women be made to go through with the pregnancy, NO of course not. Women should always be given the choice.
Edited to say - For the people are against abortion, please answer the rape and pregnancy issue?
It is inconceivable to execute a child after he/she has developed a conscious mind.
Brain activity can be detected as early as 54 days from conception. Beyond this point, it is inconceivable to consider executing the child.
Before this point, it depends on the individual values of the person in question. The child is clearly not thinking/aware. Should it be valued as a human or not? It is a philosophical debate on whether or not the potential of life to occur should be valued.
My personal opinion on abortion before this point is undefined.
I have no right to have an opinion on what another human being does.
It is very well saying, said woman should have been more responsible, and can’t have an abortion, but are you going to actively help and support this woman for a child she doesn’t want, in most circumstances can’t afford, and isn’t bringing into a loving relationship?
Most of those who would deny her the right are going to criticise even further in a couple of years time when said woman isn’t able to cope, and the child is out on the street causing trouble, and the woman is finding herself out of depth. (I’m not saying this is the way it goes -all the time- as I know it isn‘t.)
If you don’t have to live with the decision; it isn’t a decision to be made by you.
Make sure you detail the medical procedures used to execute an abortion, especially the late term ones.
It's hideous and any normal person could not possibly endorse this act if they new all the things done to accomplish it.
I don't see how anyone could be pro-abortion if they knew the details of the medical procedures used to do an abortion.
No I don't. If a person becomes pregnant than they should take the responsibility to give the baby a good home or find one for it. If it was incest or rape I'm on the fence. Maybe it should be legal in that situation only.
Don't know where you are from but abortion is legal in most civilised countries for the simple reason that if it wasn't then women would be going to back street abortionists and suffering terrible medical problems including death. It is not a matter of whether abortion should or should not be legal. It quite simply has to be.
Answers:
Abortion is legal...though There should be tougher laws.
its really hard as it is a life you are killing, but if there is could reason yes, all best
In the UK it is legal unless you live in southern Ireland.
Its very easy to say as a person looking in that a woman must accept the consequences and have the child if it is unplanned but there are so many others issues to consider, such as rape. It should remain the right of the woman to chose what she wishes.
If abortion is made illegal it does not mean that it wont happen and as a result gos back to being 'backstreet abortions' in which case there would more loss of life from the resulting complications.
