Why should we not have mandatory imprisonment for people who light bushfires??
ive got a debate soon and i really need some good points, relating to why we should NOT, have mandatory imprisonment for people who light bushfires...
I grew up on a farm, lit hundreds of brushfires, and was responsible. Should I be in Jail? Common sense tells you that you don't light fires when the grass is brown. Child education about fire safety should include this. Do we imprison 10 year old boys that play with fire because we avoid teaching him and jump to mandatory prison sentences?
One more of our rights taken away. Imprisonment is too harsh. Like cutiing off your hand for stealing a candy bar. They should be warned & fined. Or civic duty.

No, if that was the case I would of went to prison when I was twelve for starting a fire that the fire dept had to come put out
because I was working in a cemetery and burning some leaves I had piled up and caught the fence row on fire. I was helping my grandmother (or was I).
