Jury System??
“The current jury system needs reform as juries deficiency the ability to reach verdicts based on evidence alone, and the jury screening process is flawed”
What is your opinion on this quote?
The selection process is definetely flawed. People in influence or elevated powered professions are never selected ( or get themselves excused immediately). This leaves juries making judgment of a person's life based on their own thoughts or opinions.
I might also put in that although I am routinely selected for jury duty ( which I dont mind at all) I have yet to be allowed to sit within on a criminal trial. I have been in the jury pool for a week at a time ( as our test process works) 7 times in the last ten years. Due to my profession, I am the first person specifically excused by the defendant's lawyer.
I understand that it might be considerd to be prejudicial to have me serving, but I have a handle on penal law far better than any average citizen sitting in. But that is the ruling and how it stands.
I hope this helps and you can find it useful
its worked for a long time. sounds like a homework request for information. The jury selection process has been flawed for years, as culture like doctors have been excused from duty, but blue collar workers are not. This skews the population distribution of the jury to not properly reflect what America is like to leave a gullible, ignorant, blue-collar jury.
Want to get excused from a jury? Tell them you're a paralegal.
