Can a District Attorney carry a gun?

I was wondering if a DA can carry a concealed weapon. It seems close to their job would be some what dangerous. Does it vary from state to state, or is it a city type of point? Thanks
Best Answer:
A CCW in CA is approved by the Sherrif. Any DA who requests a CCW is going to be granted one. Richard
I cant see why not. If Dick Cheyney can carry a shotgun it would only brand sence that a DA could carry a concealed weapon.
In those states that hold concealed carry, a DA could easily get a receipt. In states that don't allow concealed carry, I'm not sure what the situation is. Maybe they are considered law enforcement so they are allowed to, maybe not.
Anyone can carry a gun next to the proper permits, with the exception of certain places, close to school. Unless you are a law enforcement agent.
That's really an interesting question! My senior year of high school I did an internship near the DA's office. None of the lawyers carried weapons (obviously) as they be not permitted in the courthouse! Prosecutors are there to act as lately that - prosecutors. They aren't at the scene for the arrest, necessarily, as shown in more popular television series such as Shark, and frankly, even in my time here, I didn't see any reason why they should need it. They question witnesses, they attend arraignment, transformation of plea and bail hearings, pre-trial conferences, trial, and adjudication. None of the above put them in any serious vulnerability. If you are asking outside of their job, then yes, they are certainly permitted to fetch a concealed weapon with a permit. Hope this helps. By the approach, I am in Alaska in a city of only 300,000 ancestors. This may or may not be the answer you were looking for.
Yes, it your right to bare arms. Where I live they don't even do a put a bet on ground check, so any nut can buy a gun. But remember its where they carry it. And not all of them are buying them from a store.
Yes they can... and they can even carry them into courthouses, lately like the cops. However, so can Public defenders...they get even more extermination threats than prosecutors! I worked in both offices
1) It depends on the jurisdiction. For example, Jefferson County, AL (Birmingham/Bessemer) Assistant District Attorneys do own carry permits. A prisoner recently escaped from the Bessemer courthouse and stole a bailiff's weapon. As soon as everyone get the word of what was going down, the weapons came out as the canon students were herded into secure areas. 2) To the being who claimed "no background checks." ATF requires a background check (which can be instant, as it is in GA and AL). Your jurisdiction may not own a waiting period, but it does have a background check. Many states do not check mental vigour records.
