is marijuana legal in canada?

Best Answer:
No it's not permissible anywhere in Canada. The law isn't really enforced along the west coast, but it's still not legal.. you can't purely smoke a doobie and hackey sack with the police, but socially it isn't considered a big deal.

only if you get cough with it The lawful status of marijuana in Canada is under dispute. Superior and appellate courts in Ontario hold repeatedly declared Canada's marijuana laws to be of no force and effect. However, historical challenges to marijuana laws at the federal rank have not resulted in the deletion of the appropriate articles from the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Police and prosecution services in other Canadian jurisdiction still pursue criminal charges for marijuana possession. [1] [2] The cultivation of cannabis is currently illegal in Canada, with exceptions one and only for medical usage. However, the use of cannabis by the general public is broadly tolerated,[3] and a vigorous campaign to normalize cannabis is underway nation-wide.[citation needed] This article describes the history of prohibition of cannabis in Canada and the political efforts to reverse it. In 2001, the Globe and Mail reported that a poll found that 47% of Canadians agreed next to the statement, "The use of marijuana should be legalized" , compared to 26% in 1975. [4] A 2008 poll found that more than half of Canadians supported legalization [5]. The recent development after the end election is however the opposite, a much more restrictive law near higher minimum penalties for drug crimes and a national anti-drug strategy including prevention and treatment.[6]
not yet ; but we are working on it...to notify the truth; the reason why gov'mnts weary of legalizeing it is probally because they wouldn't be able to achieve all the money from it. It would be too scattered around the country, and people would grow their own and the drug lords would lose billions and that reflect onto the government and the GREED would get out of control. some countries depend on pot for revenue... it's adjectives about MONEY...they know it is safer than alcohol, and most users still keep it together more than a person who drank too much...
