I just got charged with petty theft Penal code 484(a) PC. I altered a school parking pass.?

I altered a school parking permit to the current semester. I am a California resident and have a verbs record. I was given a $50 ticket by the school and Court Date by the police. I am wondering what my punishment will be and what I should do during me audible range.

I am not an attorney, but that seems like a pretty minor violation. I would expect it to result within a fine, probably the $50 that the campus cop wrote it for, and maybe some court costs added. If you have the option of lately paying the fine instead of going to court, that would be the thing to do. That way, you shouldn't have any court costs added on and you could stop worrying in the order of it. Check with the police and/or the court clerk to see if you have that option. This would be petty embezzlement of services. It's a misdemeanor. You are most likely looking at informal probation and a $50 fine.
