Injured by collapsing chair in hotel, what to do?
Hi, I could really do with some good advice if anyone have some please? I am on holiday in Egypt, I am staying in a 5 star hotel, part of the Sonesta group which is base in the US. Yesterday I was sitting on a chair surrounded by my room when it simply collapsed, I mean just fell apart. It left my paw bleeding with a deep enough gash that required stiches. The hotel call a doctor and he stiched me up. But that is it. The hotel sent a fruit basket to the room and offered us a dinner on th house, my wife and I.
We are students and don't usually stay 5 star but decided to treat ourselves, the hotel seem to think this is a simple fruit basket/free dinner moment. What can I do, should I sue the Sonesta Group? The remainder of our holiday is ruined. The gash was deep ample, I could see some white muscle or bone or something.
It was their chair collapsing underneath me that has me within this situation. I contacted my insurance company and they are seeking a medical report from the doctor.
Direct the hospital bill to the hotel, they ought to pay it.
The problem here is what is the Egyptian law covering this incident. Here in CA, you can sue, if you can prove a duty, a breech of duty and damages (plus a few other things, close to time limitation etc.)
You would have to consult an Egyptian attorney to find out what the requirements are in Egypt.
