What does Continuance and Deferred Dispostion mean?

I got a speeding ticket in another county. It's about an hour and a half away. I filled out the back of the ticket (like I was suppost to) and sent it in to the court and pleaded 'not guilty ' and a ' trial by jury.' I was told that they'd probably dismiss it, because the courts are to busy and full for a trial by jury just for a speeding ticket. Anyway, I got a letter from the court, but instead of dropping it, it said I 'm set for a trial by jury on a certain day , but I can sent them a hand written letter for a motion for continuance that must be there 3 days prior to my court date. I And I only have 3 continuances per case. Does this mean that I have 3 times to reschedule my court hearing? They said 'If I qualify' I could request 'Deferred Dispostion ' or 'Driving Safety Course.' What is a Deferred Dispostion? Help!! I don't know what to do. Only people who know about this Please.

Answers:
Continuances: It appears that you can continue your trial date if notice is given at least 3 days prior to trial.

It also appears you can reschedule only 3 times.

Deferred Disposition: generally this means that a decision of guilt or innocence is deferred; that you plead 'no contest,' and take a traffic school course.

Good luck!
