Am I a legal parent? HELP!!?

At 16 my parents got custody of my son. i know that i am a biological parent. Am i still a legal parent? If so how can i get my custody/rights to my son? Custody contained by court took place in SC. my mom took my son and moved to NY. what can i legally do?i am 24 now. i thought that i didn't own rights but now i have to go to court for child support. i am so confused. HELP!
If they live contained by New York you will probably need a New York attorney to help you. You need to address to a family law attorney. Did your mom adopt him or simply get custody? There should be a article trail somewhere that will tell you if your parental rights were terminated or not. If they were I really don't know where on earth you will stand, but if they were not you could very well hold your mom to court and gain visitation rights and possibly custody. If you are really wanting custody you should pay the support and have as much contact with him as your mom will allow. One place to start is the county court house where on earth the custody was given to your mom. Go in there or appointment them and ask for copies of the order. That will tell you a bit.
I say you want a New York attorney because anything that goes to court now will have to dance through the county where the children live. An attorney from another state may not know all of New Yorks laws on custody. You should hold a lawyer anyway to ensure that the support order is fair.
reach a deal to your mom, i mean she isnt that evil...? If you never signed documents to give mom the child, then you enjoy a stance. If she raised him based on your age when he was born and kept him the complete time since, it may be difficult. The thing it will hinge on is physical custody. Who has him now 50% or more of the time. Who have him the majority of time growing up?There really is no such term as legal parent. I would suggest if she has taken him out of state in need your permission, contact your local Child Protective Services and ask for direction to who you would get paperwork for sole physical custody.
